Should I worry I might get brain or saliva gland cancer when i use my cell phone? Are they rumors? do I have headaches when I have long phone conversations? Is it safe to keep my cell phone in my pant’s pocket near my procreation tools?
Apparently not. In France scientists are concerned about the risk linked to the use of cell phone (read here: mobile-phones-are-bad-for-your-health-report-from-french-experts), then a US state wants to put warning on cell phone like you can find on your packs of smokes ( read here: cell-phone-to-carry-cancer-warning-like-cigarettes, all this is not very reassuring.
Studies until now were financed by the phone makers themselves, making results biased.
What is sure is that in France cell phones relays (big antennas used to transmit cell signal to all cell phones) are not allowed to close to population, schools,…. they must know something we don’t.

The majority of studies have not found an increased cancer risk
Heavy mobile phone use may be linked to an increased risk of cancer of the salivary gland, a study suggests. Researchers looked at 500 Israelis who had developed the condition and compared their mobile phone usage with 1,300 healthy controls.
Those who had used the phone against one side of the head for several hours a day were 50% more likely to have developed a salivary gland tumour.
Brain cancer fears over heavy cell use
Cell phone radiation could heat the side of the head or potentially thermoelectrically interact with the brain, while Bluetooth devices and “unshielded” headsets could “convert the user’s head into an effective, potentially self-harming antenna”. Dr Khurana, who is a staff specialist neurosurgeon at the Canberra Hospital and an associate professor of neurosurgery at the Australian National University, said there had been increased reports of brain tumours associated with heavy and prolonged cell phone use, particularly on the same side as the person’s “preferred ear” for making calls.

Eye Cancer. EMF Radiation and Your Eyes
In 2001, German scientists found a link between cell phone radiation and eye cancer. The study investigated a form of eye cancer called unveil melanoma, in which tumours form in the layer that makes up the iris and base of the retina. The research suggests there is a threefold increase in eye cancers among people who regularly use the devices.
In 2005 a group of Israeli researchers found a link between microwave radiation and the development of cataracts. The study shows that prolonged exposure to microwave radiation similar to that used by cellular phones can lead to both macroscopic and microscopic damage to the lens and that at least part of this damage seems to accumulate over time and does not seem to heal.
In 2006, there will be 40,000+ new cases of brain tumors and eye melanoma diagnosed worldwide directly attributed to cell phone usage. In 2010, that number may reach and unprecedented 500,000 cases per year.
It is known that the watery contents of the eye assists the absorption of radiation.
Ophthalmologic symptoms of electro sensitivity and electromagnetic hypersensitivity include pain or burning in the eyes, pressure in/behind the eyes, deteriorating vision, floaters, cataracts.
Experts suggest that eyeglass frames should ideally be made from plastic with no wires in them, otherwise they can serve as an antenna to focus the radio and cellular phone waves directly into your brain and eyes.
Evidence still fuzzy on cell phones, cancer
Evidence is mixed, but some experts advocate safer cell phone practices. Electromagnetic radiation given off by cell phones is too weak to cause direct DNA damage. But there could be indirect ways DNA could be harmed through phones. Corded headsets and speaker phones can help mitigate radiation effects

Some says cell phone can cause brain cancer and some says it don’t. But i think it can cause since it emits harmful rays which can be one of the reason to cause brain cancer.

It has been know for years that cell phone abuse will cause all sorts of cancers depending on where u keep it most of the time (which pocket). there never was an independent study for to see how harmful it can be, except the ones made by the cell phone industry. Read a previous article posted here about cell phones in France and you will see that concern and awareness are building around how dangerous a cell phone abuse can be.
There are even court case in the USA where the plaintiff died of brain cancer because of (still to be proven) cell phone abuse.

The convenience of cellular phone communications has already created a critical mass of users. Using cell phones with a Bluetooth ear-piece would expose a user to far less radiation, but people are going to use cell phones despite the risks because theyve become dependent on them. Facts are much more conclusive about the risks of cigarette smoking and cancer, but people keep puffing away.
